Run Eat Sleep Podcast Episode 1 – The Color Run
Tight Calfs and Hamstrings?
Hey
Last week I did a session on the track. It’s the
first time I had done one this year.
I felt great and actually enjoyed it. The thing is,
my hamstrings were ROCK SOLID the next day.
I could barely move.
I was trying to do some stretching but I find it
a little boring and always slack off. This makes it
alot harder to recover.
The only time I’ve ever done lots of stretching was
when I was doing it with others. In a yoga class, or
with a coach.
You might feel the same?
The thing is, it’s really important to do flexibility
all of the time.
You can do this with Stretching, Sports Massage
or using a Foam Roller.
Here’s a short clip (featuring my puppy) and how to use a foam roller effectively…..
Thanks for reading,
Luke
P.s. I’m going to start up a stretching and flexibility session on sundays from 3pm. It’ll not be like your normal yoga class where you do weird breathing exercises and go to sleep for 15 minutes at the end. It’s just all about improving your flexibility and strengthening yourself up for running. We’ll do some foam rolling too so you’ll need to bring one along. Txt 07584433294 to find out more
Running Made Simple Episode 2
Simple Tip for Running Technique
Hey
I hope you enjoyed my Running Made Simple Video.
This weekend I’m looking to help 4 people improve their running technique.
Before you improve your running technique at my session this weekend though, I’d like you to try this simple tip I used when I coached kids….
“Try and run making no noise.”
I’m not talking about your breathing, but the sound of your feet!
If you land heavy on the ground and make alot of noise, this is a great thing you can practice in your warm ups and on easy runs. It’s quite tricky and it might feel a little strange at first. But it’ll help you in the long run.
It’s great to practice this as it will help you reduce injuries and make less contact with the ground (meaning more time in the air moving quickly).
Try it today or tomorrow.
Then, this saturday at 10.15am, I’ll be taking 4 people through my video analysis and running technique coaching session for free!
The great thing about this session is you get to watch yourself back on a video and see what you do well and where you can improve.
You’ll be able to watch it from different angles and in slow motion. If you’re a bit of a running geek like me, it’s really interesting to see!
The first 4 people to get in touch with me will grab the places, so be quick!
You can email me luke@runeatsleep.co.uk or call 07584433294

VIDEO – Running Made Simple
Hey
Although running seems quite simple at first
(Run further, run faster), inevitably you do
hit a stumbling block and struggle to get the
improvements you wish.
A lot of the time, this is due to a lack of
planning and consistency.
There are some principles that you can use to
help you get to your goals quicker
and without getting injured or sick.
I’ve decided to share some of
these principles in a video
series called ‘Running Made Simple’.
I use these principles with all of my runners
to get them to achieve their target times,
train for running events and to keep them
motivated.
Here is the first of the video of
‘Running Made Simple’ – CLICK HERE

I forgot my……
Hey
I hope your 2014 is going great so far!
My top running tip for you this week comes from a
simple mistake I made this morning.
I forgot my watch!
It didn’t help that I was doing a tough session, and
I would usually like to know the times of my runs to
use them as a benchmark of my fitness.
The session was a 10 minute warm up, followed by
4 x 1 mile efforts with 2 minutes rest and then 10 minutes
run home.
I was hoping to run them at my target half marathon pace
or possibly a little quicker.
Anyway – I took the positive from the situation and
realized that it was a good thing because
I was running by how I felt rather than chasing
times.
Maybe you could try it out this week
when you’re out running?
Try going out for a run WITHOUT your watch.
Enjoy yourself and forget about the distance,
time and pace and just run how you feel on that
particular day.
Let me know what you thought of it if you do
decide to try it out.
Thanks for reading,
Luke

Use This Simple Running Tip Before 2014 Arrives
Hey
I hope you had a great Xmas and got to spend
some time with friends and family.
I love xmas as everyone just relaxes and has a good time.
Sometimes your training and eating habits get a little crazy and nobody seems to know what day it is.
Very strange!
To help you get back on track before January, I wanted to share with you a cool tip to use to get the most out of your training this year.
It’s quite simple really…..
Get a YEAR PLANNER for your office/bedroom wall. (You can get them at most stationary stores.)
It’s really helpful to map out your planned running events and see how many weeks/months you have to train for them.
It’s also good to make sure you put it up
somewhere you can see it all of the time so it’s always on your mind.
I find this helps me keep motivated and on track when I don’t want to get out as much.
It’s such a simple tool but it will really benefit your Running.
Let me know when you get one, and which races you have lined up next year!
Thanks for reading,
Luke Adams
P.s. I mentioned in my last email about the Half Marathon Workshop on Sunday 5th January. We’ll be covering lots of topics such as motivation and mindset, as well as important training methods and how to prepare yourself to run your best half marathon.
