Our Story

Run Eat Sleep is a local running & fitness business in South Shields which was set up by Luke Adams in 2012. The aim was to help beginners get started with running & to build a community that would share the enjoyment of running with others.

Since then it has developed into a successful fitness business, receiving regional awards for running coaching & running events from England Athletics. This has been down to lots of hard work & would not have been possible without the fantastic support of so many incredible friends, supporters & volunteers.

Luke is a local runner and is passionate about South Shields, the outdoors, running & fitness. As well as having a Sports & Exercise Development degree, he has a wealth of experience in road & trail running, and has won the Kielder Half Marathon, the Pier to Pier & Sanddancer 10km. He also holds personal bests of 15 mins for 5km, 32 mins for 10k & 70 mins for half marathon/Great North Run.

Luke recently completed the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District, running 66 miles & 42 of the highest peaks within 24 hours. You can read his report here.

Run Eat Sleep was awarded with a Love South Tyneside award in 2024, in recognition for outstanding efforts and demonstrating community spirit in South Tyneside.

Run Eat Sleep caters for all levels of ability from absolute beginners to ultra runners and all we ask is that you have a willing attitude to learn & give your best. It’s also about the fun & social side of running, supporting each other and not taking yourself too seriously.
