We are setting our latest South Shields Landmark Virtual Challenge on the weekend of Saturday 15th May & Sunday 16th May with teams of up to 6 runners!

The virtual challenges have been extremely popular runs throughout the last year and we are looking forward to another fun weekend to complete the challenge with others in South Shields.

The 10 miles (approximate) challenge involves a combination of running, navigation and the history & heritage of South Shields. We have a new set of landmarks to find and explore in and around South Shields, and photos of your runs can be posted in our online community!

*HOW THE CHALLENGE WILL WORK*

  1. We will post a photo of the start & finish point, each of the landmarks, and will provide a map to view on this webpage on Friday 14th May
  2. Runners can complete the challenge from Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th May, and results posted on Monday 17th May
  3. The latest landmarks will be listed in Alphabetical Order and then numbered on the map. You can visit the landmarks in any order you wish. At each landmark, runners must take a selfie photo to prove they have visited.
  4. Runners must send us their names, photos, overall time & route distance.
  5. Results will take into account how many landmarks were completed & the time taken. 
  6. Runners MUST follow the government & social distancing guidelines.
  7. You can run on your own or with up to 6 runners.
  8. We advise you to take a fully charged mobile phone, money, drinks & snacks with you.
  9. You may complete the challenge by a combination of running & walking.
  10. We will take all submissions in good faith and hope you all enjoy the event for some light hearted running fun!
