GREAT NORTH RUN TRAINING COURSE 2024
Join us this Summer for training runs, guidance and support, and enjoy the experience with others taking part!
The course will start on Monday 8th July 6.45pm & Wednesday 10th July 6pm & will continue for 8 weeks (plus a recovery/preparation week & race build up on the week of the race)
The training will be led by experienced runner & coach Luke Adams, with 18 years of experience of running/coaching half marathons & best time of 1 hour & 10 minutes for the Great North Run.
The course is open to non members & guests too, but we do ask that you are comfortable running up to 5km / 3.1 mile distance).
People of abilities & paces are welcome to join. Whether you’re running 5 minute miles or 15 minute miles, we’re happy to help you progress at your own pace & get in shape to enjoy the event.
What to Expect from the course

* Run along beautiful and varied routes along the coastline
* Practise on sections of the Great North Run route
* Friendly advice & support from others taking part in the event. Keep in touch and meet on weekends.
* Insight from experienced local runners
* Advice for on the day & preparation. Guidance on clothing, footwear, nutrition + any questions that you may have.
* Access to additional training runs if you wish to join in & a pathway to progress your running after the GNR.
* Discounts for local running stores & online
*Travel up together on the morning of the Great North Run & share the experience. Join us for a beer & a social at the finish line with everyone.
How does it work?
The course will start with a warm welcome & chat, a light introductory running week and a chance to meet everyone joining in.
Mondays will start at 6.45pm with a focus on running technique, hill training & improving your pace. Meeting point will be along the seafront.
Wednesdays will start at 6pm with a focus on building up your running distances from 3 miles up to 10 miles+ and a chance to practice on sections of the route. Meeting point will be along the seafront.
Luke will arrange a chat with you to discuss your current fitness and experience to help you to get the most from the course and your Great North Run.
The 8 week course (9 weeks including the GNR week) is £48.
