The South Shields Boundary Round is a self navigated half marathon running challenge following the “boundary” of our town with a mixture of road, trail & coastal path sections.
The South Shields Boundary Round has been set up for runners looking for a new & interesting challenge this year. It’s a great way to learn some new routes and explore our amazing town!
The challenge will begin from Monday 7th September and will be ran as a virtual race until 31st October. Take part any day or time, either on your own or with friends.
After this initial race period, the challenge will remain in a leaderboard format, where you can aim to improve your personal best time as much as you wish.
We recommend studying & printing the map of the route, as well as practising all 4 sections of the route a number of times before a full attempt so you’re comfortable with accurately following the route. When taking part, we would encourage runners to run with others and take drinks, snacks and a fully charged mobile phone.
The challenge starts and finishes at The Groyne and follows one anti clockwise circular(ish) loop of approximately 13.5 miles.
A number of our events have been cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We have set up this challenge to follow the social distancing guidelines and to help support our business until the events are able to go ahead safely. Thank you for taking an interest in the challenge and we hope you enjoy it!
The challenge is £10 to take part, which includes the full map & our detailed instructions (including photos) of the course. These will be sent out to entrants via email from Sunday 6th September.
