How the challenge will work 

A list of landmarks and a map will be provided to entrants 1 week before the event

Teams must have a minimum of 2 runners. There is no limit on the number of runners in your team. 

Teams must visit the landmarks by navigating their own route before returning back to the finish. There is no official marked route and teams will find the checkpoints on their own.

Teams must take a team photo at each of the landmarks to prove they’ve visited.

you must be within touching distance or as close to the landmarks as possible. please have respect for all landmarks and property.

The aim is to visit all of the landmarks in the shortest time possible. 

Prizes for first all male & first all female winning team. 

Start/Finish & Registration at The Sanddancer Pub NE33 2LD. 

Start Time 9am and teams must register between 8.15am-8.45am on the morning of the event. 

10 Mile Distance approx. The distance is dependant on your navigation, but we expect around 10 miles on average.

Weather & Terrain – Expect wintery conditions in December. The terrain will be a mix of roads, grass, trails & hills.

Safety Kit – Fully charged mobile phone, water, food/snacks, emergency money, appropriate clothing for winter weather conditions. All teams must have the organising team’s contact numbers. We advise bringing some warm dry clothing, socks & shoes for after the run. You will get wet! 

Medals To receive your South Shields Landmark Challenge medal on the day, you must enter by Thursday 4th December (due to Christmas deliveries). Entries after this date can still receive a medal in the post or collected after the event.
