great north run 10 week course
JOIN US THIS YEAR FOR STRUCTURED TRAINING RUNS AND SUPPORT FROM OUR FRIENDLY RUNNING COMMUNITY IN SOUTH SHIELDS
Our popular 10 week Great North Run training course will be led by experienced runner & coach Luke Adams, with 19 years of experience of running/coaching half marathons & best time of 1 hour & 10 minutes for the Great North Run.
THE COURSE WILL will BEGIN on
Monday 30th June 6.45pm (introductory speed / running technique. 5KM-10KM APPROX TO START)
Wednesday 2nd July 6pm (introductory group distance / speed endurance (5KM-7KM APROX TO START)
Sunday 6th July 9am (introductory group distance / long run (5KM-15KM APPROX TO START DEPENDING ON CURRENT FITNESS)
THE COURSE will continue on mondayS, wednesdayS & sundays each week up until the run (plus a recovery week & race build up on the week of the race).
YOU CAN ALSO FOLLOW THE TRAINING PLAN IN YOUR OWN TIME ON DAYS YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND.
The course is open to non members & guests too, but we do ask that you are comfortable running up to 5km before the course starts (3.1 mile distance).
All ages, abilities & paces are welcome to join
The course is also perfect for those that have never been part of a running club before. We aim to provide a fun, relaxed & safe environment for everyone to enjoy & progress their running.
Whether you’re running 5 minute miles or 15 minute miles, we’re happy to help you progress at your own pace & get in shape to enjoy the event.
THE COURSE WILL INCLUDE rUNNING tECHNIQUE AND A VARIETY OF TRAINING RUNS DEVELOPING YOUR SPEED, STRENGTH AND STAMINA.
Run with a friendly & supportive group to stay motivated each week & take part together.
Run along beautiful and varied routes along the coastline
Practise on sections of the Great North Run route, including a final long training run & social with the group
Friendly advice & support from others taking part in the event. Keep in touch and meet on weekends.
